At the Electric Starship Arcade, we’re all about reviving the golden age of arcades—but we’re not stuck in the past. We believe the future of arcade gaming is being written right now by a passionate group of independent developers who are reimagining what arcade games can be. That’s why we proudly support and showcase indie arcade titles that bring that pixel-perfect energy we all love—while adding fresh, exciting twists to the mix.

From TEN!-player mayhem to old school beat-em ups, we’re proud to feature some of the best indie arcade games out there, created by studios that are redefining arcade culture.

While many of these games can be played right here at the Starship, we’re also highlighting a few standout indie titles and developers we admire—even if we don’t have them on the floor just yet. The indie arcade scene is bigger than any one space, and we’re proud to be part of that movement.

👑 Bumblebear Games – Killer Queen, Black Emperor

The game that started it all for many in the indie arcade renaissance—Killer Queen is a 10-player strategic battle game that blends elements of platforming, team coordination, and good old-fashioned button-mashing chaos. Bumblebear Games created a phenomenon, and Electric Starship is one of the few places in the DFW area where you can play it in all its competitive glory.

Bumblebear’s creative streak doesn’t stop there. They also developed Black Emperor, a visually striking, side-scrolling motorcycle ritual racer that’s as hypnotic as it is thrilling. Cynthia and I had the chance to play it at Arcade Monsters in Florida, and we absolutely loved it. It’s a perfect example of how Bumblebear continues to push the boundaries of arcade gameplay with bold, unconventional ideas.

🧪 DSM Arcade – Nidhogg 2 & Perfect Pour (Coming Soon)

DSM Arcade has brought us Nidhogg 2, a beautifully bizarre fencing brawler that’s just as hilarious as it is intense. From its vibrant art style to its frantic gameplay, this game has quickly become a fan favorite on our floor. We held a Nidhogg tournament and everyone had a great time! And we’re excited to announce their new game, Perfect Pour, is coming soon—another unique experience that blends skill and style in a way only DSM Arcade can deliver. From the looks of the gameplay videos, it seems to be like a first person Tapper. We can’t wait to play it!

🚀 Alan-1 – Asteroids Recharged

Alan-1 is bridging the gap between classic Atari nostalgia and modern game design. Their remake of Asteroids Recharged takes everything you loved about the original and cranks it to 11 with neon visuals, updated mechanics, and pulse-pounding music. It’s retro reimagined—and it’s right here at Electric Starship.

🦝 Incredible Technologies – Retro Raccoons

While Incredible Technologies is best known for commercial hits like Golden Tee, they’ve tapped into indie-style magic with Retro Raccoons—a quirky, party-style arcade game that brings people together for fast-paced minigames and social challenges. With its pixel art charm and easy pick-up-and-play mechanics, it fits right in with the Electric Starship vibe. Grab a drink (literally—this game encourages it!), pick your raccoon, and get ready to battle it out with your friends in the most fun, furry fashion possible.

🎩 Three Flip Studios – Armed and Gelatinous & Kung Fu Kickball

Three Flip Studios is bringing serious creativity (and chaos) to the arcade scene with titles like Armed and Gelatinous, a frantic multiplayer space brawler where players collect weapons and grow increasingly massive as the mayhem unfolds. It’s wild, weird, and ridiculously fun. They also created Kung Fu Kickball, a unique fusion of fighting game and sports mechanics that turns a soccer match into a martial arts showdown. These games are fast, fresh, and built for arcade-style fun—which is exactly why we’re fans. As Three Flip continues to make really exciting retro style games they will remain on our radar.

🕹️ New Games on the Neo Geo MVS – The Comeback of a Legend

It’s not just PC-based indies making waves—there’s a whole new generation of games being developed for the Neo Geo MVS, the iconic cartridge-based arcade system from SNK. Yes, new games for hardware released in the ’90s!

We currently have:

  • Kraut Busters – a run-and-gun shooter that feels like Metal Slug’s spiritual successor
  • Xeno Crisis – a twin-stick alien-blasting frenzy
  • Vengeance Hunters – brutal, bold, and unforgiving in the best way
  • Gladmort – gothic action and pixelated mayhem
  • Final Vendetta – coming soon, a love letter to classic beat-em-ups

These games may be built on retro tech, but the energy, art, and gameplay are anything but old-school. Supporting developers creating new content for old systems is a cornerstone of what makes Electric Starship unique.

🚀 Why We Support Indie Developers

The arcade scene wouldn’t be what it is today without the heart and hustle of indie developers. These creators aren’t just making games—they’re building communities, reviving nostalgia, and proving that arcade gaming still has something new to say.

At Electric Starship Arcade, we don’t just play the games—we believe in the people behind them. Every indie title on our floor is handpicked because it offers something unique, challenging, and—most importantly—fun.

So come by, grab a joystick, and support the future of arcades—one indie masterpiece at a time.
